Gua-Sha

Gua-Sha

Gua-Sha is a painless, therapeutic method of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The practitioner uses a smooth, specialized tool or spoon to scrape the skin of the patient to stimulate oxygenated blood in the body. Light scraping produces small spots on the skin known as petechiae. Depending on the amount of stasis in the body, these spots can range from a light pink shade to a purplish color. The petechiae marks will usually disappear within 2-3 days.

Gua-Sha can help with clearing heat, dispersing stagnation, and expelling toxins out of the body. This method of treatment helps relieve pain, fever, fatigue, nausea, skin conditions, and digestive disorders. Gua-Sha treatments also help reduce inflammation, relieve muscle stiffness, and promotes healing in the body.
